About us

I hold a bachelor's degree in entomology from the University of Antioquia (Colombia). As part of my undergraduate honor's thesis research, I applied Geographic Information System (GIS) tools to analyze the distribution of Syrphidae (Diptera) in Antioquia. In 2007 I studied the synanthropy of Calliphoridae (Diptera), a group associated with the human environments. I joined the graduated program at UPRM in January of 2010.

I am very interested in studying the diversity of Neotropical Syrphidae. My M.Sc. project in the Insect Systematics & Evolution Lab at UPRM will focus on a phylogenetic analysis of the syrphid genus Argentinomyia Lynch Arribálzaga, 1891.
